My mission statement: One of the reasons that I chose to focus on Macbeth for my Digital Humanities project is because there were many questions I had while reading and I was interested in how the language was presented and the gender roles as well. I wanted to focus on terms like power and gender because they became evident throughout the play. I want my project to reach an audience of scholars, students, professors, and anyone who has a particular interest in Shakespeare. Something that I hope you take away from my project is that you are able to learn new concepts and patterns in Macbeth that you didn’t know before. The purpose of this project was to inform my audience about patterns that occur across Macbeth that you can discover using digital tools. My research question that I want you to keep in mind is what is the effect of the language surrounding power, fear, and gender? What are the constant patterns that occur and why are they significant?
